The government seems set to bring in the Israelis for weapons production.
Today, the government signed a cooperation agreement with the Israeli Ministry of Defense, regarding defense capabilities.
" In support of Article 100 of the Constitution and Article 10 of Law No. 43/2016, "On International Agreements in the Republic of Albania", as amended, upon the proposal of the Minister of Defense, the Council of Ministers decided:
"Approval, in principle, of the framework agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania, represented by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Albania, and the government of the State of Israel, represented by the Ministry of Defense of the State of Israel, regarding defense capabilities, according to the text attached to this decision. This decision enters into force immediately ," the decision states.
The agreement has not yet been made public, but sources say it concerns the construction of weapons factories. In May, an agreement was signed in the coastal city of Vlora between Albania’s state-owned military company, KAYO, and Israeli defense giant Elbit Systems Ltd, paving the way for the reopening of the Aviation School after 18 years. It seems that the cooperation will also continue with the Israeli government, where drone systems, air defense, etc. are introduced.
