
Illegal construction within protected areas will be punishable by 5 to 10 years in prison. This new measure in the Criminal Code was announced by the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja.
The latter announced the addition of two new paragraphs that foresee increased penalties in cases of illegal construction.
"We propose adding two new paragraphs. When construction is carried out by persons exercising public functions, it should be punished with 3-7 years. Whoever has a role to play due to their duty in controlling the territory should be criminally punished.
Illegal construction within protected areas, or carried out as construction within critical infrastructure, punishable by 5-10 years in prison.
Another element is the seizure of land, which constitutes a criminal offense. We propose a radical change to the article, there will be 4 paragraphs.
"The seizure of land when it is located within protected areas should be punished with a sentence of 1 to 5 years," said Manja.
