The Albanian Journalists Union has awarded annual awards to journalists.
In the 17th edition held at the German Embassy, the jury headed by Aleksandër Cipa awarded the "Career for 2025" award to journalist Artur Zheji.
After his death, Zheji was honored with the motivation: " Journalist who, in his many years of activity, brought a quality level of reporting to both national and regional media ."
His wife and the head of Parliament appeared touched by this award.
" It is a recognition not only for the important role he played in the history of Albanian journalism, but it is an appreciation for the dedication, free speech, and critical thinking he had until the end ," said Artur Zheji's wife, Klodi Zheji.
"This important award is not only for a journalist, but for a pure Albanian intellectual. It was given away prematurely and definitely created a void in Albanian intellectual thought, in journalism, in the shaping of public opinion ," said the Speaker of Parliament, Niko Peleshi.
The Union's awards board distributed awards for dozens of media articles, with Inside Story and Top Story journalist Eraldo Harlicaj being named "reporter of the year" for his persistent and influential reporting on the Martin Cani case.
"The fact that there has been positive pressure on the authorities makes me feel good ," said Eraldo Harlicaj.
The activity took place in the presence of personalities and media workers not only from Albania, but also from the region.
