A former miner from the Valias mine spoke in front of the Prime Minister's Office during the 16th day of the protest. He called on parents of young people to join their children in the square, as happened during the democratic movements of 35 years ago.
In his speech, the former miner recalled the commitment of citizens at the beginning of pluralism and emphasized that even today the same solidarity is required in the face of the problems that continue to affect the country.
"I have been lurking in this square for 35 years. From this podium, I call on the parents of young people to join their children like our parents did 35 years ago. The oppressors are the scum of our country, they have stolen from us and are stealing from us. They have taken Albania for 1 euro, but we will not allow the oppressors to tear us to pieces," he said.
The former miner focused his message on the need for civic reaction and broader participation in the protest, arguing that the country's future cannot be left in the hands of politicians who, according to him, have failed over the years.
His speech was greeted with applause from the protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office, while the rally continued with other messages from citizens who shared their concerns about the situation in the country.
