The KLP elects the new head of SPAK today and the fourth candidate in line, prosecutor Klodian Braho, has just begun presenting his platform.
There are four candidates in the race, Adnan Xholi, Doloreza Musabelliu, Elvin Gokaj and Klodian Braho. Each of them will have 45 minutes to present their vision and platform for the leadership of SPAK, and then they will answer questions from the Council members.
Braho has served in several different offices in the country such as Berat, Vlora, the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office and the Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime.
He has prosecuted a number of criminal cases against public officials of all levels, but also in relation to organized crime. Braho also explained his vision.
"Regarding the vision, I would like to clarify that this candidacy for the leadership of SPAK is a commitment against corruption and organized crime in Albania. My vision includes organizing and consolidating SPAK, building a model structure capable and prepared for the new challenges of organized crime and corruption, offering measurable results while respecting international standards of justice to gain the trust and respect of citizens as well as of institutions in Albania and international partners," said Braho.
Braho also cited SPAK's strategic framework and that he will implement those documents.
"SPAK has an approved framework. Strategic Plan 2024-2027, communication strategy and strategy for handling pending issues. I will take measures to implement these three documents, which are well-thought-out and well-discussed documents, also with the help of international partners. Regarding the exercise of criminal prosecution, first of all, in my capacity as the head of SPAK, I will guarantee the implementation of the principle of equality before the law and no one is above the law. SPAK will continue to exercise criminal law, to file charges based on the law and evidence against anyone who has committed a criminal offense, regardless of their position," said Braho.
After the presentations and questions, the KLP proceeds to a vote. The new leader is elected by a majority vote, provided that at least 7 members are present.
The name is announced today, while the official assumption of office and the handover ceremony will take place on December 19, 2025.
