DP candidate for MP in the May 11 elections, Aulon Kalaja

The DP candidate for deputy in the May 11 elections, Aulon Kalaja, has submitted to the High Court a recourse regarding his complaint made to SPAK for the forgiveness of fines before the May 11 parliamentary elections.

Kalaja claims that this action directly influenced the election outcome.

"I submitted the appeal to the High Court, regarding my complaint made earlier in SPAK.
I complained to the Council of Ministers that, contrary to the law, forgave fines 2 days before the parliamentary elections of May 11. This action directly affected the outcome of the elections. Albanian law stipulates that the government cannot make such fiscal policies 4 months before the elections and up to 4 months after the elections.

I remind you that the forgiveness of fines 2 days before the elections is mentioned in a paragraph in the OSCE-OHDIR report.

The process of this complaint began in May, but it was initially dismissed by SPAK, while I appealed it to the Special Court of First Instance Against Organized Crime and Corruption, and they overturned it there. Then I appealed it to the Court of Appeal Against Organized Crime and Corruption, and they overturned it there too.

"And today this case goes to the Supreme Court with the confidence that justice will be done. Without a doubt, I will see this case through to the end," says Aulon Kalaja.
