Budget 2026 and Fiscal Peace: The Assembly approved the 2026 budget with 81 votes in favor, allocating 886.7 billion lek for health, salaries, education, defense, and social schemes. Pensioners benefit from monthly bonuses and increases in public salaries. The Socialists approved a “Fiscal Peace” that forgives debts up to 2014 and fines for the period 2015–2024, removing the requirement to declare the owner and source of funds, which prompted strong reactions from the opposition and international institutions.
