English football's premier tournament has opened a new account on the "X" social network, in view of the start of the 2024-2025 season: Premier League Match Centre.

For the first time, this official social account will provide near-real-time explanations and updates on operational and refereeing issues for every Premier League match.

The account will post explanations of on-field refereeing decisions and video assistant referee (VAR) involvement, including the role of technology in the decision-making process.

In the absence of live VAR audio streams, as they are currently not allowed in world football, the Premier League Match Center will be able to broadcast real-time information from the VAR center to social media during a league match.
