The first two Olympic medalists with the Albanian flag, Islam Dudaev and Chermen Veliev, will also receive the corresponding rewards from the state budget provided for in the sports law.
The government has approved a new 14.7 million lek reward for athletes who won Olympic medals with high results, as well as their coaches, participating in the "Paris 2024" Olympic Games.
The decision has been published in the Official Gazette, where it is noted that "to the budget program 'For the development of sport', a fund of 14,700,000 (fourteen million seven hundred thousand) lek is added to reward athletes who have won Olympic medals and with high results, such as and of their coaches, participants in the 'Paris 2024' Olympic Games.
Funds to cover this reward will be taken from the reserve fund of the state budget. The decision was taken on August 12 with the signature of Prime Minister Edi Rama. In the new sports law approved in 2021, bronze medalist athletes are rewarded with 5 million new lek and will also receive the rank of colonel in the Albanian Army, writes "Euronews".
The two wrestlers Islam Dudaev and Chermen Veliev entered the history of Albanian sports, after for the first time they managed to bring our country the first Olympic medals in the "Paris 2024" games.
Earlier, Kosovo also gave similar evaluations for their judokas who received medals with spectacular results for the Kosovo flag at the "Tokyo 2020" Olympics.
