Turkey demands replay of match with Paraguay, FIFA immediately responds to
Turkey-Paraguay

The Turkish Football Federation has made an official request to FIFA to replay the match against Paraguay, but the highest world football body has immediately rejected this request.

According to Turkish media, the complaint is related to an episode that occurred in the 45th minute of the match. During a moment of tension between players from both teams, a Paraguayan player picked up the referee's watch, which had fallen on the pitch, and placed it in his hand.

The Turkish Federation relied on FIFA regulations, arguing that such actions could be considered an infringement of the referee's authority and an obstacle to the normal development of the match, which, according to them, could justify its replay.

The President of the Turkish Football Federation, Ibrahim Haxhiosmanoglu, stated that the institution would seek all avenues to protect the interests of the national team.

" Even if there is only a 1% chance, let's resolve this issue quietly. Let's demand our rights ," said Haxhiosmanollu.

However, FIFA rejected the Turkish side's claims, assessing that the incident did not affect the referee's ability to perform his function.

" The instructions are clear. Your assessments and findings have a reasonable basis, but they do not support the thesis that the referee was unable to perform his duty or that there was a deficiency in the exercise of his function. Given that the referee had a second watch, this action does not create such a deficiency. The presence of the second watch eliminates this problem ," FIFA's response states.

With this decision, FIFA considers the matter closed and the match will not be replayed.
