"They broke windows to greet him"/ The rare confession of

Claudia Villafañe, the ex-wife of legend Diego Armando Maradona, has shared a series of extraordinary memories from the years they spent together in Naples, in an emotional interview ahead of her return to Italy.

Perhaps one of the most incredible stories that Claudia recalls with a smile is this:

"We were in a children's store to buy a gift. Suddenly, hundreds of fans gathered outside and started hitting the glass. One of the windows broke and we had to run away. But we laughed, in Naples we were never alone," she recalls.

Claudia says that during their stay in Italy, they were forced to go out only at night:
"They even followed us with boats when we went out to sea. They surrounded us with dinghies and small boats, just to greet Diego. It was crazy, but we were happy."

With a heart divided between Buenos Aires and Naples, Claudia returns to the city that made Maradona an eternal icon:

"Naples is the only place where Diego has never left. He is always there, in the streets, on the murals, in the stories that people tell. Every time I go back, I feel like I am coming home."

In her story, she also recalls the great moment of Maradona's presentation on July 5, 1984 at the San Paolo:

"The stadium was full, people couldn't stop shouting. He came out onto the pitch, started making noises and said: 'Buonasera napoletani'. It was impossible not to cry with joy."

For Claudia, Diego's most beautiful goal is not the one against England in the World Cup:

"It was the penalty kick against Juventus at the San Paolo. The ball rose and ended up in the net in a way that defied every law of physics. Maradona was like that – inimitable."

Asked if she misses him, she responds with emotion:

"I'm sorry he can't see his grandchildren grow up. Benjamin plays football like him. Azul never knew him, but he talks about him constantly. He was a wonderful grandfather. That's my biggest regret."

And finally, when asked what he would say to Diego if he were still alive:

"He knows everything. I talk to him all the time. I know he listens to me."
