After the loss to Israel, the Albanian national football team suffered another defeat in friendly matches, this time against Luxembourg. The match held at the “Air Albania” stadium ended with a minimum score of 0-1 in favor of the friends.
At the end of the match, team captain Elseid Hysaj spoke about the team's performance and the current situation of the national team, expressing regret that his 100th match with the red and black jersey was not crowned with victory.
" I would have liked to celebrate the 100th game differently. I'm a little happy and a little sad. It was a game we could have won, but now we have to look ahead. If we dwell on the mistakes of the past, we risk making the same mistakes again. We have to improve what's not working ," Hysaj declared.
The defender also appreciated the players' fatigue after a long season, but emphasized that the national team jersey requires maximum commitment in every match.
" Players come after a long championship and the end of the season is always difficult. However, we must be professionals and give 100 percent for the National Team ," he said.
According to Hysaj, the team is going through a period of transition after the change in the technical staff and needs time to adapt to the coach's new ideas.
" It's a difficult moment. I told the boys that we have to give more than we gave today. I am confident that we will understand what the coach is asking for, even though we had little time available, with two matches played in three days ," said the red and black captain.
Analyzing the loss to Luxembourg, Hysaj admitted that the opponent had studied Albania's weaknesses well. He highlighted that the team created several scoring chances, but continued to suffer from a lack of goals, just like in the match against Israel.
" We created two or three chances to score, but we couldn't convert them. In football, if you don't give more than your maximum, any opponent can punish you. I hope that our strikers will find the feeling of scoring again and we can improve this situation as soon as possible ," concluded Hysaj.
