The incident began after a harsh tackle by Faundez on Joao Cancelo. Immediately after the action, Rafael Leao intervened to protect his teammate, colliding with Chilean defender Ivan Roman. The situation quickly escalated, as the two players physically clashed.
Italian referee Luca Zuferli reacted immediately, sending both Leao and Romani off with red cards, leaving both teams with one player less for the remainder of the match.
