Journalist Dritan Shakohoxha has revealed a surprise name that could be the new coach of the Albanian national team, following Silvino's departure this summer. He highlighted that it is former Italian footballer Cannavaro.
Further, Shakohoxha said that the Albanian Football Association only hires foreign coaches, robbing them of the leading role.
"These men (foreign coaches over the years) have cost 17 million euros. 40 years ago, the federation of the time hired a German coach and put two coaches in to teach him. We hire foreigners because we want attention to ourselves. When Albania wins, the coaches talk for a while, then the Federation speaks, because everyone gets the credit. Now they say that Cannavaro will become a coach, someone we saw on TV. We will take that to mean we hired him. 90% of the coaches we hired were good footballers, but not coaches," Shakohoxha said, among other things, in "TëPaekspozuarit"
