The official website of the International Football Federation has presented the main individual battles of the European play-off finals for the 2026 World Cup.
FIFA has selected the match between Fisnik Asllani and Arda Guler as the main duel for the Kosovo - Turkey match.
"Asllani was at the heart of Kosovo's brilliant performance in the second half of the semi-final against Slovakia. With his team trailing 2-1 after half-time, the Hoffenheim striker equalised with a stunning header. And that moment changed the course of the game," FIFA wrote.
"Kosovo won 4:3 and is just one match away from a historic appearance at the World Cup. Standing in its way is the Turkish team, which also boasts impressive individual talent," FIFA's article continues.
Turkey eliminated Romania in the semifinals, winning 1:0. Real Madrid star Arda Guler provided the assist.
"Real Madrid star Guler showed off his technical quality with a pass that sailed through the Romanian defence. It was an assist for Ferdi Kadioglu in the win over Romania. The play-off final will undoubtedly be the biggest match of the 21-year-old's blossoming career. Will he provide another defining moment?" FIFA asked.
The match between Kosovo and Turkey takes place at 20:45 at "Fadil Vokrri".
For the Bosnia and Herzegovina – Italy match, FIFA has selected the Edin Dzeko – Sandro Tonali duel.
Viktor Gyokeres – Robert Lewandowski is the main individual battle in the Sweden – Poland match.
Ladislav Krejci – Mikkel Damsgaard is the decisive duel in the Czech Republic – Denmark match.
These three playoff finals are also on Tuesday at 20:45.
Fisnik Asllani could soon be Guler's rival at club level. After shining in Kosovo and Hoffenheim, the "Dardan" striker is on the radar of many big European clubs.
Barcelona have already contacted the player's representatives. A move to a major European team is expected in the summer. With another goal in the final against Turkey, Asllani would increase his value even more.
