The coach of the Kosovo national team, Franco Foda, spoke on the eve of the final match against Turkey, where the "Dardans" aim to secure a place in the 2026 World Cup.
He described this challenge as a very important moment for the team and the country, emphasizing that the balance between the two teams is equal.
"The Turkish team is very strong also in terms of individual players like Yildiz, Guler and Calhanoglu, they are qualitative and we are good. We are in the final with full merit, the chances are 50-50. We will give everything to win.
It is obvious that it is a very important event. There have never been so many journalists. We are playing for qualification for the World Championship. It is good that we are motivated, but we should keep our "heads in place", he said.
Foda added that his team has analyzed the opponent in detail and is prepared for any situation the match may bring, including extra time or penalties.
"Of course I will not reveal the tactics that I will implement in the game. It is important that we know Turkey's strengths and weaknesses. Tomorrow we will perform with our ideas and principles. Turkey is strong both in the game and in combinations. Their game is based on short passes, but it is important that when we have the ball we turn to counterattack.
"90 or 120 minutes? I'm not a predictor of the future, maybe there will be penalties. The important thing is that we are prepared for all possibilities," said the coach.
Also present at the conference was striker Vedat Muriqi, who said that he considers the role of captain in this historic match a great privilege.
"I am proud to be the captain of Kosovo in the historic final, we are calm and have a great atmosphere. We hope to have success tomorrow," he said.
