At the press conference before the friendly match with Ukraine, defender Berat Gjimshiti stated that the team is looking forward to positive results, but emphasized that the loss to Poland ruined the work built over the last 3 years.
He further added that the match against Ukraine will be seen as an opportunity to overcome that negative result against Poland.
Excerpts from the conference:
-How would you evaluate Albania's journey in the World Cup qualifiers?
Berat Gjimshiti : The journey has been very good and positive. Life is fast, we only think about the present and it is the loss with Poland that spoils a little the beauty of what we have done in the last 2-3 years. Not only in qualifying. We are still positive. At these moments there is a little negativity in our heads, but we must change it and turn it into strength and positivity, for the future of the Albanian national team.
-How do you see Ukraine?
Berat Gjimshiti : It's a strong team at these levels like us, Poland or Sweden that was in the "Final Four" as they say for the last ticket to the World Cup. The opposing team must be appreciated.
How is the team doing?
Berat Gjimshiti: We're upset, but as time goes by we have to turn it into strength. We just have to think about getting something positive tomorrow.
Malinowski?
Berat Gjimshiti : The rating is very high, we spent some very positive years at Atalanta. I rate him as a player and as a guy even more. I believe he is a key player in Ukraine. Malinovski's strongest thing is shooting from distance. We have to be close in defense and not let him hit the goal, he often has extraordinary and very strong shots.
