Inter's second goalkeeper, Josep Martinez, has been involved in a road accident in the province of Como, where an 81-year-old man has died. The incident occurred at around 09:30 in Fenegrò, on Via Bergamo.
According to Italian media reports, the 27-year-old Spanish goalkeeper was traveling by car when, for reasons still unclear, he hit the elderly man, who was in an electric wheelchair.
The man died instantly, while the emergency team's efforts to save him were unsuccessful. Carabinieri are at the scene to conduct investigations.
Martinez stopped immediately after the incident, unharmed. He underwent a medical examination as he was in a state of shock.
Following the tragedy, Inter have decided to cancel their press conference scheduled for today. Martinez will not be on the bench tomorrow evening for the match against Fiorentina.
