The announcement that Jorge Casado, a player for the Junior A team, passed away on Monday at the age of 15 has shocked Real Zaragoza and Spanish football in general.
Jorge, a member of Zaragoza since childhood, joined the youth academy as an under-9 player and was playing his sixth season with the club this year, having also made his debut with the first team before his sudden death.
The "Blanquihos" announced that they had declared an official day of mourning and suspended all activities at the training center (Sports City) following this sad news.
"Jorge, a member of Real Zaragoza from a young age, played for the club for the sixth time this year. Much loved in the dressing room, he leaves an invaluable void in his team, Cadete A, and at Real Zaragoza.
The Sports City, devastated by the tragic news, will completely freeze its activities and the first team will hold a minute of silence before training.
"Devastating by the loss, we share the great pain with Jorge's family and loved ones. From the club we send you all our love and strength in these difficult times. Rest in peace, Jorge," the club's message reads.
