Spain's young star, Lamine Yamal, has declared that the World Cup semi-final against France is the most important match he has ever played, emphasizing that he feels no pressure at all before the big showdown in the USA.
At the press conference, the Barcelona footballer said that he is living a dream and that he is happy that football has given him the opportunity to be recognized around the world.
"It's amazing that football has given me the opportunity to be recognized in places like Chattanooga. I would never have imagined walking through a city in the United States and being recognized. I really appreciate the place I come from," he said.
Yamal also clarified his previous statement, which was interpreted as a provocation towards France. "They asked me if I was afraid of France and I said no. We are European champions. As Kounde said, it's just football, that's all," he declared.
The 19-year-old stressed that he is completely calm ahead of the semi-final.
"I don't feel pressure. I play the way I know how and when you give everything on the field, you have no reason to feel pressure. It will be a fantastic match, very strong, because both teams know how to attack and defend," said Yamal.
Asked if this is the biggest match of his career, he did not hesitate to answer: "Top-1. It is the most important match I will play for sure," placing it even ahead of the European Championship final or the Champions League matches with Barcelona.
Yamal expressed his belief that Spain has the potential to win the World Cup. "Of course we see ourselves as champions. It's difficult, but why not? Like in 2010," he declared.
The striker admitted that he has only scored one goal in the tournament so far, but said that it does not bother him. "Every tournament is different. It is not the coach's fault that I have not scored five goals. For me, it is important that the team is winning. I hope that against France I will be able to score," he stressed.
