Sad news for football in Kosovo as Ejup Mehmeti, also known as "Kapiti", passed away at the age of 75.
Mehmeti played for Prishtina in the 1970s, and also had a career as a coach for the capital's team. During this period, he would play alongside big names like Rasim Thaçi – Cima and Sabit Dallku.
His work continued in promoting the club to the elite of Yugoslav football.
After his playing career, "Kapiti" pursued an academic path, completing a master's degree in football at the University of Sarajevo and receiving his professional coaching license from UEFA.
His work included developing young talent and building the team, continuing his tradition in Kosovo football.
In June 2021, the Municipality of Pristina, through the Sports Directorate, honored "Kapiti" with the title "Gratitude for Lifetime Achievement", appreciating his biography in sports and contribution to Pristina and all of Kosovo.
During his career, he also contributed to Hamburg in Germany as an assistant coach.
