Since Silvinjo took charge of the Albanian national team, many things have changed. Not only the way of playing, but also the way of selecting.
The Brazilian coach has built a core, where some players have become undisputed pillars, while others, although with big names or successful pasts, have lost their place and minutes. From Kristjan Asllani, who is almost never absent from the lineup, to Nedim Bajrami and Jasir Asani, who have gone from undisputed starters to the shadows.
From Strakosha, who has won the goalkeeping battle, to Berisha, who has not been called up again. And to those who have barely managed 1 or 2 matches under his leadership. This is a statistical and analytical journey to better understand who Silvinjo's trusted ones are, who has left the lineup and which players have faded into oblivion.
TOP 5- No one has played more under Silvinjo than Kristjan Asllani. With 26 appearances, he is the “central engine” of the team, a profile that combines composure, ball distribution and the modern approach of a director in construction. Even with only 2 goals and 2 assists, Asllani remains a key player in the balance between the defensive phase and the help for the attack. If there is someone with whom Asllani shares the podium, it remains Nedim Bajrami, with 25 matches, 6 goals and 3 assists.
One of the most productive players in the offensive aspect, who "invented" several goals even in decisive matches. His contribution is great, despite having lost his place as a starter in the team. In the last three challenges, he has only played twice as a substitute. He has lost ground.
If there was a player who would be alongside Asllani in terms of number of matches in the Silvinjo era, his name is Jasir Asani, but the "cold shoulder" that the winger had with the coach before the match with Andorra in March has caused Jasir to remain in the quota of 23 matches and moreover he has started all of them as a starter. His contribution has been with 5 goals and 5 assists, resulting in a discovery of Silvinjo, but recently Asani is not being preferred.
For him, just like Nedimi, things have changed a lot after the match with England at Wembley. If Bajrami has played a little, Asani has not been booked a single minute in the last three matches. In defense, Mario Mitaj has been among the most consistent, with 23 appearances.
Calm, determined and always present to help the attacking phase, he has earned the coach's total trust and has become a "guarantee" on the left wing. An injury prevented him from playing the first two matches of the World Cup qualifiers. The last, but he is also no longer preferred from the start, is Ylber Ramadani. Asllani's shield, the midfielder has played 22 matches with Silvinjo, of which 20 he has been a starter. Apart from Asllani, who has survived in the formation, the "old guard" of minutes, has lost his place to start from the first minute with Silvinjo. The same fate for Ramadan.
NUMBERS 20
Goalkeeper, a Strakosha-Berisha duel with a clear winner. Strakosha is Silvinjo's No. 1 selection, with 20 matches he has recovered his role as the first goalkeeper, leaving Etrit Berisha in the shade with only 6 appearances. A choice that shows a generational change, but also a preference for Strakosha's technical profile. Berisha has not been called up since the European Championship. With 20 matches, Qazim Laçi is also there, who has played the last 8 as a starter. Since the match with Croatia in the European Championship, where his insertion behind the strikers proved to be successful, the coach has not changed him so far, even though the team has players with more fantasy for that role, such as Muçi or Bajrami. He simply needs the help and protection that Laçi gives to the midfield.
WITH MISCELLANEOUS
Despite rarely missing at Atalanta and setting records for appearances, with Silvinjon Gjimshiti he has played only 16 matches out of 26 in total, thus missing a full 10 matches. Frequent injuries have meant that Gjimshiti is not a constant in the national team and something like this has caused the captain's armband to change sides often.
Elseid Hysaj also has the same number of matches. Although the right-back has had competition from Balliu, he has managed to play 16 matches with Silvinjo. We recall that Hysaj is the second footballer with the most appearances in the Albanian National Team, after Lorik Cana. At this level of the ranking for number of matches, Taulant Seferi is also there, although the latter was not called up in 2025 by the Brazilian. Below, come Ismajli and Hoxha, who are in the quota of 15 matches. But, with a big difference. Ardiani has played 14 challenges from the start, Hoxha only 5 such, while in 10 cases he has been preferred as a starter.
In the last matches, Arbri has convinced Silvinjo and has been thrown into the field from the start. Myrto Uzuni and Ernest Muçi continue with the ranking, as both count 14 matches with Silvinjo, with the former having started 6 times, while Muçi has only been a starter twice. One goal and 2 assists for Uzuni, while Muçi has scored three goals. With 13 appearances is Arlind Ajeti and then with 12 comes Ivan Balliu.
BELOW 10
Sokol Cikalleshi ended his career with the national team, while in statistics he remains a player that Silvinjo used for 9 matches. So does Gjasula, who collected 8 meetings with the Brazilian. Below them, with players who have less than 10 appearances under the guidance of this coach, come Marash Kumbulla with 7 appearances, Enea Mihaj with 6 matches, Keidi Bare as many and Muja with 5.
Meanwhile, Indrit Tuci has been preferred for 4 matches, while Juljan Shehu, another discovery of Silvinjo, has completed the third presence. With three matches there are also names such as: Medon Berisha, Naser Aliji, Arbnor Muçolli, Anis Mehmeti. The latter two have been forgotten by the coach. Adrion Pajaziti has played two matches and only one each: Amir Abrashi, Marvin Çuni, Sebastian Spahiu, Elhan Kastrati, Armando Sadiku and Frederik Veseli./Panorama Sport
