Mallorca achieved an important 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the "Son Moix" stadium, in the 30th week of La Liga, taking three important points in the fight for survival.
Los Blancos put in one of their weakest performances of the season, creating few dangerous chances. The only serious chance of the first half came in the 22nd minute, when Kylian Mbappe tried to score but was stopped by goalkeeper Leo Roman.
Mallorca took advantage of the uncertainty in the Madrid defense and opened the scoring in the 42nd minute. After a cross from Pablo Maffeo and a moment of carelessness in the Real defense, Manu Morlanes sent the ball into the net.
The second half was a slower pace, with Real Madrid trying to react late on. The equalizer came in the 88th minute, when substitute Eder Militao headed home a corner kick from Alexander-Arnold.
However, the home team reacted immediately. In the first minute of extra time, Vedat Muriqi scored the winning goal after a quick action initiated by goalkeeper Leo Roman. The Dardanian striker finished with precision, scoring his 19th goal of the season.
With this victory, Mallorca secures three valuable points in the race for survival. On the other hand, Real Madrid records its fifth loss of the season.
If Barcelona manages to win tonight against Atletico Madrid, the race for the La Liga title could take a decisive turn in favor of the Catalans.
