Manchester City have secured their place in the FA Cup semi-finals after a convincing 4-0 win over Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Pep Guardiola's side dominated the game throughout.
The match started at a cautious pace with both teams avoiding danger in the opening minutes. The key moment of the first half came in the 39th minute, when a foul by Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk inside the area gave City a penalty. Erling Haaland converted from the spot to give the home side the lead.
Shortly before the end of the first half, the Norwegian striker struck again, doubling the score and giving his team peace of mind.
City continued at the same pace in the second half. Rajan Cherki assisted Semenjo, who scored the third goal with a precise shot, beating goalkeeper Mamardashvili.
In the 57th minute, Haaland completed his hat-trick to make it 4-0. With this performance, he takes his total number of goals this season for Manchester City to 33.
Liverpool had a golden opportunity to reduce the deficit in the 64th minute, but Mohamed Salah missed from the penalty spot, with the Treford goalkeeper saving the Egyptian's shot.
With this victory, Manchester City becomes the first team to secure a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, the oldest club competition in the world, which this year marks its 145th edition.
