Colombia mathematically secured qualification for the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, after defeating Congo 1-0 in the match held this Wednesday morning Albanian time.
The Latin American team dominated throughout the match, although they only managed to find the winning goal in the 76th minute. Daniel Munoz was the author of the decisive goal, sealing his team's success and three very important points in the race for the top of the group.
Munoz had a shot on target in the sixth minute, but his goal was ruled out for offside. Despite this, Colombia continued to press and finished the match with 20 shots in total, nine of which were on target. Congo, on the other hand, managed just one shot on target throughout the match.
After the first two matches, Colombia leads Group K with six points, while Portugal is second with four points. Congo holds third place with one point, while Uzbekistan is last with no points.
The final group matches will see Colombia face Portugal and Congo face Uzbekistan. Although Colombia has already secured qualification, no team has been officially eliminated from Group K, with the fates of the remaining places to be decided after the third round.
