Fearing its own hooligans, Serbia officially asks UEFA to change the stadium for

The Football Federation of Serbia has made an official request to UEFA to change the stadium where it will play the match against Albania for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The confirmation came from the Secretary General of the Serbian Federation, Branko Radujko, who explained that Serbia's wish is for the match to be played not in Belgrade, but in Leskovac.

According to him, in Leskovac there is more hospitality towards the Serbian national team, compared to Belgrade where local fans often clash with each other. Meanwhile, in the Leskovac facility, with only 8 thousand seats, the possibility of controlling the crowds is greater, a clear signal that the Serbian Federation expects chaos in the stadium in the match with Albania if it is played with fans.

" The match with England was disappointing, not only in terms of the result, but in terms of everything that was shown. We believed that in a match with a great footballing power like England, it was a real opportunity to start a positive wave in our big stadium, which was full, and to renew the cult of the national team. It was a missed opportunity, but we do not give up on our patriotic objective.

"We are working intensively to have the change of location of that match approved, Leskovac is an environment where the national team has been welcomed with immense support in an extremely positive atmosphere and where many important positive results have been recorded. I believe that in the future we will play in Leskovac ," he said.

Afterwards, Radujko confirmed coach Stojkovic on the bench and once again emphasized the expectations for the match with Albania.

" We have expectations from the coach and that is that our team plays at the highest possible level, with a clear ambition to win, from the first minute to the last. After the match with Albania, the Federation board will look at the coach's report for the previous periods and make decisions within our jurisdiction.

The match with Albania will directly decide who goes to the "play-off" for the World Cup. That match is our absolute priority at the moment, we have players who have not forgotten to play football, they play in serious clubs, in serious leagues. They have been able to make the nation happy before and I believe they will do it again this time, "said the secretary of the Serbian Federation.
