The English Football Association (FA) has charged Chelsea with 74 breaches of regulations relating to suspected investment by agents and third parties in player transfers during the Roman Abramovich era of ownership.
The charges cover misconduct that is alleged to have occurred between 2009 and 2022, primarily between the 2010-2011 and 2015-2016 seasons. Chelsea has until September 19, 2025 to respond to these charges.
The club have stated their commitment to working with the FA to resolve the matter as soon as possible, stressing "unprecedented transparency" throughout the process. The allegations could lead to sanctions, although there is a belief that self-reporting will be taken into account, potentially leading to a financial fine rather than a points deduction.
" We would like to express our gratitude to the FA for its engagement with the club in this complex matter, which relates to events that occurred over a decade ago ," Chelsea's statement concluded.
