The UEA Executive Committee, meeting today in Tirana, has made several important decisions regarding international activities, but has postponed decisions on a very delicate issue such as playing championship matches in territories outside the continent.
La Liga wants Villarreal-Barcelona to be played in Miami while Serie A wants Milan-Como to be played in Perth, Australia. “The Executive Committee discussed the requests from the RFEF and FIGC to approve playing one domestic league match each outside their country of origin, specifically outside UEFA territory.
"The committee acknowledged it as an important and growing issue, but expressed a desire to ensure that it had the views of all stakeholders before making a final decision. There are many issues to be resolved and as the European governing body, UEFA has a responsibility to take all these factors into account. As a result, no decision was taken today, but UEFA will undertake a round of consultations with all stakeholders in European football – including fans," UEFA said in a statement after the meeting.
Meanwhile, it was announced that the decision had been made for the 2027 Champions League final to be held in Madrid at the Estadio Metropolitano.

The UEFA Executive Committee also took other decisions and discussed further topics as follows:
Long-term injuries to outfield players in UEFA men's club competitions
The Executive Committee approved an amendment to the 2025/26 UEFA Men's Club Competitions Regulations to allow the temporary replacement of a maximum of one outfield player with injury or long-term illness during the league phase up to and including matchday 6.
The rationale for the adaptation is to ensure that team rosters are not unfairly reduced and players are protected from the additional pressure of workload.
Bonus payments for the 2025 UEFA Women's Nations League Finals
The Committee approved a total amount of €1,000,000 for distribution, based on the teams' placement in the UEFA Women's Nations League Finals, as shown below:
Request for authorization of domestic league matches to be played outside UEFA territory

"Football in Schools" event
Earlier in the day, a successful local event was held at the FSHF Football House in Tirana, as part of UEFA’s “Football in Schools” programme. The opening ceremony was attended by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin and the President of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, before 100 boys and girls from local schools enjoyed a range of football activities, joining the UEFA President and football legends on the pitch to celebrate the success of the pan-European initiative.
Next meeting
The next meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee is scheduled for 3 December 2025 at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
