France vs. Morocco/ African teams the nightmare of the 'Roosters'; who

France and Morocco will face each other for the seventh time in history. The French remain unbeaten in the previous six meetings between the two teams, including the last meeting at the World Cup. France is aiming to secure a third consecutive World Cup semi-final, a feat previously achieved only by Germany and Brazil.

However, statistics show that in recent years France has been more vulnerable to African teams at the World Cup. Excluding matches decided on penalties, they have suffered more losses to African teams than to any other confederation.

Didier Deschamps' team comes into this challenge in excellent form, having won 11 of their last 12 official matches and counting seven consecutive victories.

For coach Didier Deschamps, this will be his 25th World Cup match as a coach, equalling Helmut Schön's record. With 19 wins, Deschamps already holds the record for the most wins as a coach in the competition.

Midfielder Michael Olise is the first player since Zico in 1978 to make more than 10 successful dribbles, create at least 10 chances from open play and make more than 10 through balls on his World Cup debut.

On the other hand, only twice in history has an African team gone undefeated in their first five World Cup matches, and both times it was Morocco. In the last tournament, the streak was broken in the sixth match, by France.

Since the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Brahim Diaz has been the Moroccan player with the greatest contribution to goals in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Achraf Hakimi has created 15 chances at the tournament, the highest number ever recorded by an African defender in a single World Cup.
