He made history at the Olympic Games by giving Albania a bronze medal, but the adventure at the World Wrestling Championships did not start well for the red-and-black wrestler Islam Dudaev. The draw was not in his favor either, as his first rival was the world champion, Iszmail Muszukajev.
Dudaev, who competes in the 70 kg freestyle wrestling category at this World Championship, had a strong match until the end. He was the first to take the lead, earning 1 point, but in the end it was Muszukayev who tied the score at 1-1 and, based on the established criteria, advanced further.
Despite losing in the first challenge, there is a possibility that Dudaev will be re-evaluated in the remainder of this tournament.
Meanwhile, in the 61 kilogram category, Zelimkhan Abakarov's debut resulted in a positive result. He defeated Turkish Emrah Ormanoglu with a clean score of 3-0, ensuring qualification for the next round.
At this year's World Championships, Albania will also be represented by wrestlers Shermen Valiev, Gjete Prenga and Albina Drazhi, who will take to the mat in the coming days.
