Authorities in Venezuela open mass graves for earthquake victims

Authorities in Venezuela have begun preparing mass graves for the victims of two powerful earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, which struck the country and left thousands dead.

Aerial footage published by the French news agency AFP shows long rows of open graves, designed to hold around 2,000 bodies.

According to authorities, people who cannot be immediately identified will be buried with an identification number and a photograph, so that family members will be able to recognize them at a later stage and know the location of their grave.

The latest toll, released by the president of the Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, speaks of 3,535 deaths and 16,740 injured. However, authorities warn that the death toll is expected to rise, as thousands of people are still missing and search and rescue operations continue among collapsed buildings.

A state of emergency has been declared in the affected areas. The army, emergency services and hundreds of volunteers are engaged in rescue operations, housing families left homeless and restoring vital services, including electricity and drinking water supplies.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has announced that it will send 10,000 body bags to Venezuelan authorities, stressing that the death toll could rise in the coming days. According to preliminary estimates, about 2,500 buildings have been completely destroyed by the seismic tremors.

If it's for a news portal, I can do it with a stronger and more dramatic introduction, without losing the informative tone.
