Champions League/ Bayern beats Real, Arsenal triumphs in the end in Lisbon;

The first two quarter-final matches in the Champions League are over. At the Santiago Bernabeu, Bayern Munich managed to get an important victory over Real Madrid with a score of 1-2.

The Germans appeared more demanding from the start, with Michael Oliseh risking a penalty kick in the 7th minute, while just two minutes later Dayot Upamecano wasted a golden opportunity to take the lead.

Real responded with Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe, but goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was decisive with several important saves. The Bavarians' advantage goal came in the 41st minute, after a model action finalized by Luis Diaz with an assist from Serge Gnabry.

At the end of the first half, Madrid claimed a penalty after a contact between Vinicius and Upamecano, but the referee awarded a foul in attack for handball.

The second half started immediately with a goal for Bayern. A quick counterattack was completed by Harry Kane with a precise shot from distance, after an assist from Oliseh, doubling the score.

Real responded in the 74th minute, when Kylian Mbappe scored after a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold. The goal was confirmed by goal-line technology.

In the 83rd minute, Vinicius Jr. came close to scoring the equalizer, but once again Manuel Neuer said "NO". The final score was 1-2. The return match will be played a week later at the "Allianz Arena", where the team that will qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League will be decided.

At the “Jose Alvalade”, Sporting Lisbon was defeated in the “last breath” by Arsenal with a narrow score of 0-1. The most dangerous moment of the first half was in the 16th minute, when Noni Madueke’s shot was stopped by the crossbar. In the following minutes there was no serious danger for either team and the score did not change until the end of the first 45 minutes.

In the 63rd minute, Martin Zubimendi scored a beautiful goal from distance, but it was canceled by VAR for offside position of Viktor Giokeres. The first concrete chance for Sporting Lisbon came in the 83rd minute, but Geni Katamo's header was excellently stopped by David Raja.

The challenge was only resolved in extra time, when a perfect combination between Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz saw the German put the ball into the net. Both came on as substitutes in the final minutes of the match.

A big win for the Londoners, who will only need a draw in the return match to advance to the Champions League semi-finals.
