Barcelona made the most of Real Madrid's false step, taking a convincing 4-1 victory over Espanyol in the Catalan derby and moving nine points clear at the top of La Liga.
Hansi Flick's team started the match aggressively, controlling the tempo and possession from the first minutes. The lead came quickly, when Ferran Torres headed home a corner kick from young talent Lamin Jamal.
The collaboration between the two players proved decisive for the second goal as well. Jamal provided a brilliant assist, while Torres made no mistake in front of goal, doubling the tally and giving Barcelona peace of mind before the end of the first half.
In the second half, Espanyol tried to get back into the game. Pol Lozano scored a spectacular goal from distance, temporarily closing the gap and reopening the game.
However, Barcelona's response was immediate. Lamin Jamal crowned his performance with a goal after a quick move, while in the last minutes Marcus Rashford sealed the final score 4-1.
With this victory, Barcelona consolidates its position at the top of the championship and continues its positive series. On the other hand, Espanyol deepens its results crisis, remaining without a win in La Liga for several weeks.
