With a special, almost mythical tone, the United States Marine Corps bid farewell to Chuck Norris, honoring his journey and symbolic relationship with the Armed Forces.
"Chuck Norris never joined the Navy... The Marines applied for him," the message says, maintaining the familiar tone that accompanies his legend.
The text then takes on a more emotional tone: "The roads to Paradise are always guarded by Marines. Today, Chuck Norris took over."
The US Marines remember that Norris served in the United States Air Force and in 2007 he was awarded the title "Honorary Marine" by the then-Commander of the Corps, General James T. Conway.
This is an extremely rare distinction, as only a little over 100 people have received the title "Honorary Marine" in the Corps' 250-year history.
The message ends with a touching moment: "some missions require a battalion. But this mission only needs one 'Honorary Marine'."
A farewell that balances between emotion and myth, much like Chuck Norris' public image over the years.
