Ukrainian model speaks from wheelchair: They made me like this because I refused

Ukrainian model Maria Kovalchuk recounts the horror she experienced at a luxurious party with wealthy young Russians and Ukrainians in Dubai.

"At first everything seemed normal. I even called my mom and told her: I'm fine, they're calm boys," says Maria. But within a few hours, everything took a dramatic turn.

According to her, when she refused to consume alcohol and engage in sexual activities, the situation got out of control. They insulted her, pushed her, and took her bag and passport.

She tried to leave, but they forcibly stopped her. Then, they took her clothes. In a panic, Maria managed to escape and hid in an abandoned construction building. Two boys followed her, found her, and brutally attacked her.

"They broke my back, my arms, my legs. They knocked me unconscious... I don't know how many days I was in a coma," she recounts with tears in her eyes.

Later found on the side of the road, wearing only a papillon, Maria was taken to hospital, where doctors fought for her life. Today, she is in Norway, under the care of her mother and uses a wheelchair. She claims that authorities in Dubai have deleted the footage from security cameras and have tried to present the incident as a “suicide attempt”.

"I didn't drink alcohol. I didn't have sex with anyone. I just said 'no', and they punished me for that," she says.

A story that shocks and raises many questions about justice, security, and the silence that often accompanies luxury.
