The two most critically acclaimed and culturally influential American films of 2025, "One Battle After Another" and "Sinners," are expected to share the lion's share of the awards at the 98th Academy Awards on March 15.
On paper, “One Battle After Another” seems like the favorite, having won a slew of major awards this season, including accolades from the Critics' Choice Association, Golden Globes, BAFTA and Producers Guild of America. However, “Sinners,” which has been a box office success and has received a record 16 nominations, has entered the finals with strong momentum, especially after winning the top ensemble award from the Screen Actors Guild.
Both films are considered strong contenders for best picture, and the race remains open until the end.
