A new documentary about Elizabeth Taylor reveals details about previously unknown aspects of her life. The HBO documentary "Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes" includes a never-before-seen interview with the actress. In it, Elizabeth Taylor is heard talking to the late reporter Richard Merriman. The interview dates between 1964 and 1965.
Among other things, it refers to the reaction of her father, Francis Lane, when he learned about the relationship she had had in the past, specifically in 1962, with Richard Burton. She says that when the news broke, the actress received a lot of backlash, as she had recently married her fourth husband, Eddie Fisher, while Burton was married to Sybil Christopher.
Their illicit romance began on the set of the 1963 film Cleopatra, which starred Elizabeth Taylor and Burton as Marc Anthony. "The Vatican newspaper had published an article saying that I was so disgusting that my children should be taken away from me, an attack that actually made me think about killing myself," she said in the documentary.
But even her father did not react well when he found out about their illegal relationship. The couple separated and married in 1964. After 10 years of marriage, in 1974 they decided to divorce. Although there was an attempt to reunite in 1975, they ultimately failed to stay together.
TV star Kim Kardashian is set to executive produce and star in the upcoming Elizabeth Taylor docu-series. The three-part documentary, titled Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar, comes from Oscar-winning production company Passion Pictures. The documentary series will look at Elizabeth's acting skills, which she used to mesmerize viewers, before becoming a multi-billion dollar businesswoman and activist.
