After Germany, France has also asked Prime Minister Albin Kurti for commitment to the path of normalizing relations with Serbia.
In their congratulatory letters following Kurti's re-election as head of government, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed their support for this process.
Macron stressed that France will continue to stand by Kosovo and support efforts to normalize relations with Serbia. The letter further stated that the Brussels and Ohrid Agreements have set the direction and it is up to both parties to implement the commitments undertaken, within the framework of the dialogue facilitated by the European Union.
"You know my commitment to the objective of reunifying our continent: France is convinced that the place of all the Western Balkan states is within the European Union and we will continue to support Kosovo on its European path. France will also continue to tirelessly support efforts to normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia, which constitute an essential dimension of this process of rapprochement with the European Union," Macron's letter states, among other things.
