The Prime Minister requires at least 85 votes in the Assembly
Prime Minister Albin Kurti announces the start of meetings with opposition parties on the issue of electing the president, emphasizing the need for a broader parliamentary majority.
He states that he will send invitations to the opposition leaders after the completion of internal consultations. According to him, securing the minimum votes is not enough for a sustainable process. Kurti wants the number of votes to reach around 85 or 86 deputies, so that the election is not jeopardized.
The Prime Minister explained that he has just returned from Paris, where he met with French President Emmanuel Macron, and therefore has not yet concluded the necessary consultations. He added that the Assembly has 30 days to complete this process, but aims for the meetings to take place as soon as possible.
Kurti emphasizes that what matters is the final result and not just the efforts during the process, describing the issue as urgent and of high priority.
He also comments on the removal of an exhibition from the Pristina square, which had provoked public reactions. According to him, the material contained inaccuracies and should be corrected. He demands that the crimes committed in Kosovo be documented and presented accurately, especially for the younger generations.
Kurti adds that an updated exhibition should be restored, proposing as an appropriate period the month of June, on the anniversary of the liberation of Kosovo. He suggests that the exhibition be extended to other municipalities, besides Pristina.
