Several people were escorted by police during the Vidovdan ceremony in Gazimestan, near Pristina, after they chanted "Kosovo is Serbia" and sang songs dedicated to Kosovo and Vidovdan.
The ceremony, which is organized every June 28 to commemorate the Battle of Kosovo in 1389, took place under increased security measures and with a large presence of Kosovo Police. At the entrance to the memorial complex, officers distributed a notice to participants warning that symbols or actions that incite interethnic, religious or political hatred would not be tolerated.
After the escorting of some participants, the Serbian List reacted, claiming that the detained persons were not presented with any written document explaining the reasons for the escorting. In its statement, the party described the action as an attempt at intimidation and announced that it had notified international representatives, requesting their intervention for the release of the escorted persons.
Until the publication of this news, Kosovo authorities have not officially commented on the event.
The celebration of Vidovdan in Gazimestan has been accompanied by tensions in previous years. Even in 2025, Kosovo Police escorted several people for questioning on suspicion of inciting hatred and using provocative symbols or clothing.
