A 43-year-old Spanish citizen has been arrested in Kosovo, after allegedly kidnapping his 6-year-old daughter in Mallorca and fleeing Spain.
According to Spanish media, the suspect took the minor from the island of Mallorca and fled, initially hiding her in the trunk of a vehicle to avoid detection by authorities. After leaving Spain, his tracks were lost.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that the 43-year-old had closed his bank accounts, deleted his social media profiles and changed his physical appearance, in order to make it more difficult to identify and locate him.
Thanks to cooperation between authorities from several European countries and the Kosovo Police, it was confirmed that the father and daughter were in Kosovo.
On June 24, Kosovo Police undertook the operation that led to the arrest of the 43-year-old man, while the 6-year-old girl was found in good health.
After the intervention of the authorities, the child was handed over to the institutions responsible for the protection of minors, while the Spanish citizen was placed in detention pending judicial proceedings and a decision on possible extradition.
