May 11th result, Kreshnik Spahiu: Vote for the lesser evil, new parties lost

Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu considered the campaign for the May 11 elections as the coldest in 35 years, while describing it as the 'campaign of chairs' after the parties chose to fill the streets and squares with chairs.

In the show '5 Questions from Babaramo', on Report TV, Spahiu said that this was the most readable campaign in the last 35 years, cold, without enthusiasm, it was the chairs campaign.

"Before, there was enthusiasm, they were even standing and jumping with hope from the promises. But this time, both the majority and the opposition, had only one opportunity to fill the squares, to distribute the space and set up the chairs," said Spahiu.

But why did the SP win the elections according to him?

"Regardless of the numbers, at first glance Albanians chose the lesser evil and the greater evil was Berisha, also because of his past and age. In the national vote, the SP remains in the same quotas, the same as it was voted 4 or 8 years ago and less than in 2013, even though there were 42 coalition forces then," he explained.

While he also emphasized the negative fact of this campaign, where the new parties did not unite to maximize the vote and not to disperse and win so few deputies in relation to the number of votes, damaged by the electoral system.

"It was a vote for the lesser evil, even small parties were voted for massively, where new parties were an alternative. But even these missed a historic chance, after the vote was split, they were not grouped and lost many deputies," said Spahiu.
