Ilir Alimehmeti, who ran in the May 11 elections for deputy in the Tirana District, resulted as the second most voted person after Jorida Tabaku, in the open list of 37 candidates of the 'PD-ASHM' coalition, but was unable to obtain the deputy's mandate.
From the Report TV studio, Alimehmeti said that he suspects that his votes were stolen, not excluding any party in the counting groups.
For this reason, the candidate has requested the CEC for video footage to see how the process went.
"I have doubts on both sides. There are 4 people at the table counting. Since I asked for the video footage, I have doubts. Maybe the camera says this doesn't exist, it's every candidate's right to see it."
"This is provided for in the law. I am very institutional in this regard, as long as there is a procedure that the CEC has approved, that procedure is followed," said Alimehmeti.
The suspicions are about preferential votes, which if proven true could spark another debate among Democrats themselves. But until then, they remain just suspicions.
