Prime Minister Edi Rama will visit the neighboring country, Italy, today, April 16th.
The head of the Albanian government is reported to be holding a meeting with his Italian counterpart, Georgia Meloni.
The meeting will start at 3:00 PM at Palazzo Chigi.
"On Thursday, April 16, Prime Minister Meloni will hold a meeting with the head of the Albanian government, Edi Rama, at Palazzo Chigi," the Rome government announced.
Albanian Prime Minister Rama is known for his special relationship with his Italian counterpart, Georgia Meloni. The two leaders continue to cooperate in various fields, in the interest of both countries.
A joint meeting between the governments of Albania and Italy was held in November 2025. Both Meloni and Rama considered the cooperation between the parties to be historic.
"A historic day, because for the first time the Albanian government sits down with the Italian government to talk about joint projects and to talk about a common future," Rama declared.
At that time, Tirana and Rome officially signed a total of 16 joint cooperation agreements. Rama said that the "icing on the cake" from Italy will come in 2028, when the neighbors will take over the presidency of the European Council. According to the Albanian prime minister, the neighboring country will help Albania for EU membership and that Meloni will again be at the head of the Italian state.
