Jorida Tabaku and Oerd Bylykbashi, DP MPs, were part of an open discussion with the ambassadors of EU member states in Albania, which was organized by the head of the Delegation, Silvio Gonzato. The meeting focused on two of the reforms considered essential, the Territorial and Electoral.
For both of these issues, the Assembly has established ad-hoc committees, while discussions continue with the aim of concluding the reforms within the parliamentary session that ends at the end of July.
It seems that the diplomats engaged in Albania, beyond their stance on reforms, have also given a message to the DP leadership, perhaps on who enjoys the support of ambassadors, at least those of EU countries.
Through a message on the X platform, the EU delegation provided details about the meeting, emphasizing that the focus was on electoral and territorial reforms.
“Today, at the offices of the EU Delegation, I held an open and frank discussion with the ambassadors of EU member states to Albania, as well as with Ms. Jorida Tabaku and Mr. Oerd Bylykbashi from the Democratic Party. We exchanged views on key reforms that require bipartisan support, such as electoral and territorial reforms, as well as on democratic participation in Albania’s European integration process.
"A transparent and inclusive legislative process in Parliament, through the active and constructive engagement of all parliamentary groups, as well as meaningful consultations with civil society representatives, are essential for Albania to adopt sustainable reforms for the benefit of its citizens," the Delegation's official announcement states.
