Milan have closed the deal for the transfer of Mario Gila from Lazio, securing the services of the Spanish centre-back for the next five seasons.
According to reports from Italy, the 25-year-old will earn a salary of €5m per season, while Lazio will receive €25m as a fixed part of the deal. The contract also includes another €5m in bonuses, bringing the total value of the operation to €30m.
Milan's offer was higher than that of Napoli, who had shown a concrete interest in the defender. Atalanta was also rumored to be in the race for Gila, but the Rossoneri managed to convince both the capital club and the player himself.

Mario Gila had long been considered one of Milan's main targets and had been a request from former sporting director Igli Tare. Even after his departure from the sporting directorship, the club did not give up on the Spanish defender, finalizing negotiations in this transfer window.
A factor that facilitated the transfer was the player's contractual situation, who had only one year left on his deal with Lazio. For this reason, the white and blue club decided not to risk his departure for nothing next summer.
With Gila's arrival, Milan continues to strengthen its squad after making significant signings in the summer transfer window. After investing in the offensive department, the red and black leaders have turned their attention to defense, with the aim of giving coach Ruben Amorim a more competitive team for the new season.
