"Rama should come to the Parliament!", Alizoti: If we don't stop

Democratic Party MP Tomor Alizoti has requested the presence of Prime Minister Edi Rama in the plenary session, accusing him of violating the Constitution due to his continuous absence from the Assembly.

During his speech, Alizoti raised concerns that protests have been taking place in the country for several days, while MPs have no opportunity to discuss and hold the head of government accountable.

According to him, the parliamentary system requires the Prime Minister to be present in the Assembly and respond to issues raised by citizens' representatives.

"Everyone knows that the Constitution stipulates that the prime minister must be present in the Assembly. For several days now, there has been a protest of another magnitude in Albania. There are many MPs who want to discuss with the prime minister," declared Alizoti.

The Democratic MP warned that the lack of parliamentary control over the executive could lead to the deformation of the democratic system.

"We must stop the leader's lust. The moment we don't stop him today, we are in a dictatorship. He comes out openly and violates the Constitution," he said.

Alizoti also addressed the chair of the session, asking her to intervene to guarantee respect for parliamentary procedures.

"You, as the chair of the session, should take the initiative and force the prime minister. Why doesn't he come to the session? My request is constitutional. Where does the prime minister get the right to violate the Constitution?" said Alizoti.
