The leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, delivered a harsh speech in the Assembly, where he focused on the protests that have been taking place for several days in Tirana and the majority's accusations against the participants in them.
Shehaj criticized the stance of the government and majority MPs towards the protesters, stating that instead of attacks and labeling, they should be held accountable for the concerns raised by citizens.
He said that in the previous session he was denied the right to speak, precisely when he intended to speak about the young people who have come out to protest against the government and the Assembly.
"Last session, the procedure was violated because I was denied the right to speak because I was going to speak here where you all attack the young people who have come out to protest against you and against this Assembly, and not only do you not listen to them or support them, but you also attack them," said Shehaj.
He further condemned the labeling of protesters, calling them unacceptable. "You call them Nazis, Serbs, Greeks, yesterday you even brought the police to stop them, shame on you!" declared the leader of the Opportunity Party.
Shehaj demanded that the Prime Minister be present in Parliament and provide explanations for the accusations related to abuse and theft.
"The Prime Minister should come here to give answers, not gather the SP group and attack the protesters. What you are doing to hide your thefts is a scandal ," he said.
At the end of his speech, Shehaj accused the government of also using private security structures and called on the majority to stop enriching itself at the expense of citizens.
"You have now started with private police. Enough is enough, you have become rich. Enough is enough!", concluded Shehaj.
