The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, has reacted after the serious incident that occurred in Lozhan, Maliqi, where during a police operation, the officer of the "Eagle" force, Enea Mekolli, lost his life, while his colleague, Edison Adri, was seriously injured.
The Head of State expressed his sorrow for the loss of the State Police officer, conveying his condolences to his family and appreciating the sacrifice made in the line of duty.
Begaj also wished a speedy recovery to the injured officer, who is receiving medical treatment at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana.
In his reaction, the President emphasized that the State Police will continue its mission in the fight against crime and that this serious event will not shake the determination of the blue uniforms to guarantee public order and security.
"I deeply share the pain of the tragic loss of life in the line of duty of police officer Enea Mekolli and the serious injury of his colleague, Edison Adri.
I express my deepest condolences and solidarity to the family on behalf of the Albanian state on this very difficult day for them!
I wish a full and speedy recovery to the State Police employee who was injured!
The State Police will not be deterred by this loss and will turn pain into strength and determination to fight crime in every corner.
"The Albanian people are massively behind the police in protecting security and public order," wrote President Bajram Begaj.
