President Bajram Begaj has expressed his condolences on the passing of former US Congressman Eliot Engel.
The head of state has described him as one of the most dedicated personalities to Albanians and the Albanian cause in the United States of America.
In a reaction, Begaj emphasized his deep gratitude for Engel's contribution in support of Kosovo and the Albanian nation, especially in the most difficult historical moments.
"Today, Eliot Engel, a great friend of Albanians and a door always open to them, passed away.
With deep gratitude, we thank you for everything you did for Kosovo and the Albanian nation, especially in the most difficult moments of our history.
His name will forever remain in the memory and hearts of Albanians, as one of our most precious friends, who stood by us with dedication and courage. Rest in peace!”, reads President Begaj's message.
Eliot Engel has been one of the strongest voices in the US Congress in support of Kosovo and the Albanian cause for decades, playing an important role in strengthening Albanian-American relations.
